Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
The body of a missing Thousand Oaks man was found Wednesday morning inside a vehicle parked in the parking structure of Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
Dyllan Mason’s car was spotted in the parking structure by hospital security staff, who recognized the vehicle from a recent media release and notified deputies. Mason had been missing since March 4, 2020, when he left his home armed with a handgun. Surveillance footage from the parking structure showed Mason parked his car there on the fourth, but he never exited the vehicle.
Deputies checked the car, but they could not see inside. The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown while deputies carefully approached the car with an armored vehicle and broke a window to see inside. Unfortunately, Mason had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives examined the scene and determined there was no evidence of a crime.
