Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On August 24, 2019, at approximately 11:39 AM, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call of a woman not breathing in the 100 block of Valley Ridge Drive in the unincorporated area of Oak View. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered two deceased adult females inside. Detectives determined the two women were murdered inside the residence. Further investigation identified Shawn Shirck as the suspect in the crime.
At about 5:48 PM, detectives arrested Shirck in the 600 block of N. Ventura Avenue in Oak View. Shirck was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on two felony counts of murder. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.00. Shirck is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on August 27, 2019.
The identity of the victims is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Detective Beau Rodriguez at 805-384-4723.
