News Release
On January 27, 2022, the Oxnard Police Department traffic investigators received notice from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office that the 21-year-old male driver of the Saturn SL2 sedan involved in the collision succumbed to his injuries. Traffic investigators are continuing with the investigation to determine the cause of the collision. On January 20, 2022, at approximately 10:13 p.m., Oxnard officers and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision involving a 2001 Volvo semi-truck and trailer and a 1996 Saturn sedan which occurred on Victoria Avenue north of Doris Avenue. Officers determined that the driver of the semi-truck attempted to make a U-turn from southbound to northbound Victoria Avenue however was broadsided by the Saturn sedan that was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue. The driver of the Saturn sedan, identified as a 21-year-old male of Oxnard, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as a 43-year-old male of Oxnard, was uninjured and cooperated with the investigation.
Traffic investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has information regarding this collision is urged to contact Officer Corbin Hames at (805) 385-7750 or via email at [email protected].
