Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On May 20, at 5:00 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Channel Islands Blvd for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Anthony Garcia, and the right front passenger was identified as Jesus Villafana. Villafana is a documented criminal street gang member, on probation and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
During a search of the vehicle, a loaded 9 millimeter semi-auto handgun, 9 millimeter ammunition and a large quantity of generic Xanax were located. Garcia was charged with several firearms related violations. Villafana was charged with controlled substance and firearms related violations.
