Christopher Gaston (DOB 12/2/79), of Oxnard, was sentenced by Judge David Worley to life without the possibility of parole for the murder of Christopher Camper in 2016. On May 20, 2019, Gaston was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Mr. Camper. The jury also found true that Gaston committed the murder by using a firearm, lying in wait, and shooting from a vehicle.
On June 25, 2016, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Gaston drove up to an Oxnard bus stop where Mr. Camper was standing. While sitting in the driver’s seat, Gaston fired multiple shots from a handgun at Mr. Camper, hitting him three times and killing him.  Gaston then fled the scene, hid his car and discarded the murder weapon.  Within hours of the shooting, Oxnard Police Department detectives identified Gaston as the suspect. Â
The prosecution of this case was based upon an extensive investigation conducted by the Oxnard Police Department.
