Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On January 15, at 2:18 a.m., an Oxnard Police Officer attempted to contact a suspicious subject possibly casing for robberies in the 1800 block of N. Ventura Rd. Upon seeing the officer, Joel Lemus fled on foot and discarded a loaded .357 Cal Revolver. Lemus was apprehended by the officers a short distance away.
Further investigation indicated that Lemus was not the registered owner of the revolver. A records check revealed that the handgun was reported stolen in 2008. Lemus was subsequently arrested for resisting, obstructing and/ or delaying a peace officer and various firearms related charges.
