Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
David Perez, 60 year old Oxnard resident, was arrested after developing an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
On February 7, 2020, a deputy with the Camarillo Police Department received information that David Perez, age 60, had taken steps to develop an inappropriate romantic relationship with a
15-year old girl. At that time, Perez was identified as a Pleasant Valley School District bus driver.
The victim was not a student of Pleasant Valley School District and she was not associated with his employment as a bus driver. At this time, there is no information suggesting that he attempted to victimize any children he met in association with his job.
Perez was arrested on school district property prior to beginning his shift and prior to the arrival of any children on school grounds. Perez was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on February 12, 2020.
Pleasant Valley School District was notified of the arrest and they have placed Perez on administrative leave.
Anyone with information about Perez being involved in any inappropriate behavior with minors is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ryan Clark at 805-384-4721.
Heard from a PVSD employee today that she received a text message AND a voicemail about this arrest, but both messages stated there was no impact on students. How does a pedophile driving a bus possibly have NO effect on students. Shouldn’t there be a review of children in his bus, to see if any students has encounters with him?
