Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On April 11, 2020, at approximately 6:47 p.m., Simi Valley Police Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a Domestic Violence Incident in Progress at a residence located in the 4900 block of Alta Street. The reporting party and victim, Susan Hahn (66-years-old), told the Dispatch Center that her cohabitant son, Jason Hahn (38-year-old), assaulted her and threatened to kill her. SVPD Dispatch informed the responding officers that Susan was hiding in the backyard and that Jason was inside the house armed with a rifle. Susan told Dispatch that she could not leave the location because the backyard access gate was locked.
When the officers arrived on scene, they determined that Susan was hiding on the east side of the residence between the trash cans and access gate. The officers set-up a rescue team and entered the backyard through the access gate and rescued her. After Susan was rescued, she told officers she had been arguing with Jason intermittently during the day regarding personal issues. The argument escalated and Jason choked Susan and threatened her. According to Susan, Jason armed himself with a rifle after he choked her.
The SVPD Special Weapons and Tactics Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded to the location. As the incident progressed, Jason voluntarily exited the residence unarmed and was taken into custody without incident. The investigating officer seized 2 rifles and 1 handgun as evidence. Jason was arrested for the following charges:
• 664/187 PC-Attempted Murder
• 368(b)(1) PC-Elder Abuse
• 422(a) PC-Criminal Threats
Jason was booked at Ventura County Main Jail on the listed charges. Susan was assessed by the paramedics at the scene and released.
He’ll be let out because they can’t give him a court date during covid19, then he’ll go back and really hurt his mom.
