    Renessa Therrien and Joy Castillo were arrested for organized retail theft from department stores in the cities of Camarillo and Ventura.

    On 09/28/21, at about 03:09 PM deputies from the Camarillo Police Station responded to the 600 Block of Ventura Boulevard to investigate a theft in progress. Deputies worked in conjunction with security guards to locate and detain the suspects who were hiding in the parking lot. The suspects were identified as Renessa Therrien and Joy Castillo. Deputies determined Therrien and Castillo selected multiple clothing items and used a magnetic device to remove the security sensors. The clothing was concealed in an empty child stroller when they left the store.

    Following the arrests, deputies searched their car and located a large volume of merchandise. Deputies suspected these items were stolen from a retail department store located in the 4900 Block of Telephone Road, in the city of Ventura.

    Officers from the Ventura Police Department responded and confirmed Therrien, and Castillo stole merchandise from the store. Officers determined they stole the merchandise by removing the security sensors with a magnetic device and concealing the items inside an empty stroller. The combined amount of stolen merchandise between the two stores totaled $1670.

    Therrien and Castillo were arrested for violations of PC 490.4(a)(1)- Organized Retail Theft, PC 182(a)(1)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, and PC 466- Possession of Burglary Tools. Upon being booked at the Main Jail, Therrien and Castillo posted bail in the amount of $20,000. Their court date was set for 10/12/21.
