    Suspects arrested in Oxnard for Firearms and Narcotics

    Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release

    On October 25th, 2019, Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit concluded an investigation into Mauricio Yepez and Raul Yepez. Mauricio and Raul were believed to be in possession of illegal firearms and narcotics. Due to Mauricio’s previous criminal conviction(s), he is prohibited from owning and/or possessing firearms and ammunition.

    At approximately 1145 hours, detectives conducted a traffic stop on Mauricio as he drove in the area of 2nd Street and A Street in the City of Oxnard. Additional detectives made contact with Raul in the area of Victoria Avenue and Ralston Street in the City of Ventura.  With  the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail, Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, and Ventura County District Attorney Investigators, detectives executed a search warrant at both Mauricio’s and Raul’s residence in the 100 Block of S. Roosevelt Avenue in the City of Oxnard.

    Valentin Yepez was contacted at one of the residences during the execution of the search warrant. Valentin is prohibited from owning and/or possessing firearms and ammunition due to previous criminal conviction(s).

    As a result of the search warrant service, detectives located 3 semi-automatic handguns, 1 revolver, several loaded magazines, 814 grams of heroin, 314 grams of methamphetamine, 4 grams of cocaine, 65 Oxycodone pills, 29 Suboxone strips, and a large sum of money believed to be derived from narcotics sales. Detectives also located gang indicia at the residence and  believe Mauricio was supplying known gang-member/associates with narcotics and guns.

    Mauricio was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for violation of HS 11351- Possession For Sale of a Controlled Substance, HS 11378- Possession For Sale of a Controlled Substance, PC 29800(a) – Own/Possess/Control Firearm by a Prohibited Person, PC 30305(a)(1) – Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition, and PC 186.22 – Street Terrorism. Mauricio remains in custody with bail set at $750,000.

    Valentin was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for violation of PC 29800(a) – Own/Possess/Control Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Valentin remains in custody with bail set at $50,000.

    Raul was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for violation of PC 27545(a) – Unlawful Gun Transfer but was later released on bond.
