On 08/30/19 7:00 AM twenty-eight officers from multiple allied agencies including the Ventura Police Department, Southern California High Technology Crimes Task Force, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Paula Police Department, Simi Valley Police Department, U.S. Department fo Homeland Security, State of California Department of Adult Parole and Ventura County Probation Agency, conducted a citywide compliance check of sex offenders having supervised release conditions. The offenders checked were supervised under AB109, CDCR Parole, or Probation.
Officers inspected fifteen locations that resulted in nine offenders being in violation and/or arrested. The violations found included sexually explicit material of youth, social media, narcotics, failing to register as a sex offender registrant, possession of ammunition, and possession of prohibited technology/internet devices. Additional arrests are anticipated after detectives conclude their investigation into these crimes.
This compliance sweep was part of ongoing efforts to help rehabilitate offenders and protect the public throughout Ventura County. In total, approximately 70% of offenders have been found in violation during these operations.
