Ventura | Suspect in Custody for Kohl’s Theft

Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release

While investigating the loss of merchandise to Kohls, Loss Prevention Officers began monitoring security footage from 9/7 and 9/26. On security video, Loss Prevention observed an unknown male suspect steal a large amount of property from the store and flee in a vehicle. They contacted the Ventura Police Department to report the crimes. The Ventura Police Street Crimes Detectives began investigating and identified Enrique Lopez (9-26-83) as the suspect.

On 10/3/19, Lopez again entered the store and stole a large amount of property and was able to flee before Loss Prevention could detain him. Street Crimes Detectives began actively looking for Lopez and on 10/11/19, located him in the area of South Rose Avenue in Oxnard. Street Crimes Detectives, with the assistance of the Oxnard Police Department, took Lopez into custody without incident. Lopez was transported and booked at the Ventura County Jail for three counts of grand theft. The total loss to Kohls was over $7,000.

A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows that Lopez has prior convictions for burglary, theft, identity theft, possession of narcotics and domestic violence.

This is an ongoing investigation, anyone with information regarding these thefts is asked to contact Detective Reyes with the Ventura Police Street Crimes Unit at 805-339-4476.
